Dougie had his first doctor’s appointment today. It went surprisingly well. He has gained 1 lb since he was born and weighed in at 6 lbs 5 oz today. That moved him into the 10th percentile for length, head size and weight. Obviously, he’s still small but it’s great to see that he’s grown so well in the last 2 weeks.
Now that the Christmas dust has settled, we wanted to share some pictures from Dougie’s first Christmas. It was relatively quiet but it was nice and relaxing. We had Dougie in a swing next to us for present opening. He wasn’t able to unwrap his own presents so we had to help out a bit. He even had a special Christmas outfit to wear though it ended up being a bit big for him.
Dougie did get to experience his first “Sharabura family tradition” when he received a clementine in the toe of his stocking.
Our dog sitter dropped off a baby gift for us today. They were so cute I had to include pictures. It’s a set of 5 onsies. The first one has a picture of all the dogs (including Sera and Lancie) and the rest have pictures of each one of the dogs we have now.

Little Dougie met the dogs this evening. We arranged it for right after everyone had eaten. They were able to smell him earlier when they came in to eat but they were so occupied with kibble that they didn’t really notice. By the time we actually showed him to them, he was sort of old news. Just what we wanted.
Little Dougie was released from the NICU this morning and is now home and sleeping peacefully. He hasn’t met the puppies yet but that will happen shortly.
We are very excited to announce the arrival of the newest member of our family, Douglas Hay Sharabura.
He was born December 15, 2006 at 10:49am CST at Baylor Medical Center – Grapevine. He weight 5lbs 4oz and was 19″.
We stayed 2 days in the hospital before I was released. Unfortunately, Dougie had to stay some extra time to correct a blood sugar issue. We’re hopeful that he’ll be home tomorrow.
